It gives me great pleasure that this blog is becoming more of a community effort, and to that end post ideas from neighbors are being suggested, and are much appreciated. Earlier this week CWE resident Suzanne Miller emailed that Tony Streckfuss (above), proprietor of the neighborhood's newsstand, arranged for the Fire Department's Hook & Ladder Truck #5 to be parked at Euclid & Maryland this Saturday morning. It will be stationed there for about an hour, starting at 9:30 a.m., so neighborhood children can meet the firemen and climb all over the truck. I understand that Hook and Ladder #5 is the largest in the City's fleet.
And thank you to Tony for arranging this opportunity, especially since the fire truck was a "no show" at this year's 4th of July Parade.
Suzanne's email prompted me to dig out some old photos of a fire truck parked on Lenox Place after one of the 4th of July Children's Parades years ago, above and below. I don't remember who the clown was, below, but not surprisingly, there I am right in the middle of it all.
