As the old expression goes, "it's so hot you could fry an egg on the sidewalk." Short of that, you could simply head over to the corner of Euclid & Forest Park Boulevard at lunchtime on Wednesdays and sample some wonderful ethnic foods, and then treat yourself to one of Sarah's Cake Stop's cupcakes too.
Cha Cha Chow prepares really delicious and imaginative tacos in its mobile kitchen staffed by a high-energy crew. The tacos are accompanied by scrumptious roasted corn.
I ordered a platter of three assorted tacos: curried sweet potato, short rib, and a "special of the day" –all fabulous, $8.50, cash or credit cards.
The Falafel Wich Wagon also parks at the corner next to the Center for Advanced Medicine on Wednesdays. Unlike the other mobile dining trucks, this food is prepared elsewhere, so the only wait is for those ahead of you in line (or on line if you are from the East), above and below.
On my next visit I plan to try a Falafel Wich which my daughter, who works in the Medical Center, says comes with delicious pickled red onions. The watermelon basil lemonade sounds extremely good too, $2.50, cash or credit cards.
And sandwiched in the middle of the two trucks mentioned above is Sarah's Cake Stop which offers a lovely bunch of cupcakes in several flavors, shown below, $3.
With the beastly hot temperatures we're experiencing, check the website, twitter account, or facebook page of the food trucks listed below before heading over today. And see my previous post for what's on tap for Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.
Cha Cha Chow, Falafel Wich, Sarah's Cake Stop on Facebook, 11 to 1:30 Wednesdays at Euclid and Forest Park Parkway.
