With two locations, one in the U.City Loop and the other in Grand Center, Craft Alliance is an extremely busy arts organization. With all that creativity swirling around, clever exhibitions with catchy titles are bound to occur. A recent press release from Saskya Byron, Development & Communications Director of Craft Alliance, promotes the upcoming exhibition "Follow the Leader," opening on September 16 at CA's Kranzberg Arts Center located in the old Woolworth's building at Grand & Olive.
You are invited to participate in "Undress for Art: Clothing Drive for Guerra de la Paz," by donating unwanted dresses, shirts, shoes and other apparel items to be used in the exhibition created by Cuban-born artists Neraldo de la Paz and Alan Guerra. You'll also have an opportunity to watch the artists in action while they create brightly-colored sculptural forms using the donated clothing during the site-specific installation at the Kranzberg Arts Center between September 7 and September 15. "Follow the Leader," part of Craft Alliance's Fashion Lab, is presented in conjunction with "Innovations in Textiles," a biennial collaborative event in St. Louis. You can read more about "Innovations in Textiles" here.
Drop off your clothing contributions to Craft Alliance in the Delmar Loop (6640 Delmar), or in the Kranzberg Arts Center (501 N. Grand) beginning today, August 15, through Saturday, September 10. Any clothing not incorporated in "Follow the Leader" will be donated to Goodwill Industries.
