On this, the first really moderate day in over two months, I decided to share photographs I took at the end of May in the alley between Maryland Avenue and Lindell Boulevard. I've also included two photographs from a "borrowed" shade garden Jay Reiter (see last year's post here) tends just off the same alley. The heat and drought have most probably taken a toll on the plantings pictured here, but the efforts these homeowners make to beautify the alley, including plantings beside a condominium's driveway and those hanging over back fences, are worthy of recognition and a source of inspiration.
