Congratulations to Rosati-Kain High School students Caroline Lipic, ‘14 and Rebecca Mulvaney, ’16 who won second place and $500 in the 30-Day Entrepreneurship Challenge for their Sealed Lips company and product. Lipic and Mulvaney competed in the Final Showcase of the challenge on April 12, 2014 at Lab1500 downtown. Seven schools competed for a $1,500 first-place prize and a $500 second-place prize. The Entrepreneur’s Organization of St. Louis, Arch Grants, Lab1500, and Independent Youth hosted the event. The challenge allowed students to create a viable business and prepare it for launch within 30 days. Student teams were paired with local St. Louis companies as mentors.
After 30 days, judges chose one team from each of the participating schools to present their plans at the Final Showcase. Lipic and Mulvaney’s company, Sealed Lips, sells lip balm with 20 percent of the proceeds sent to the neighborhood's Queen of Peace Center on Newstead. To learn more about Sealed Lips, visit them on Facebook, follow them on Twitter, or visit www.sealedlips.net.
The internal pitch competition occurred at R-K on March 12, 2014, with the following students: Kanai Collins (Xianai’s Bath & Body Products); Elisabeth Emerson and Laynie Smith (The Peacebakers); Caroline Lipic and Rebecca Mulvaney (Sealed Lips); and Angela White (Globe Tonic Sing Master). Thanks to our faculty judges: Julie Anderson, Rebecca Nagel, Patty Spellman, Monica Wamser, and Karen Weber.
And thank you to Kathleen Nahm, Rosati-Kain Alumna Class of 2004 Communications Director for sending this wonderful news.
