Lyda Krewson sent the following information about how the organizers of Fair St. Louis are planning to handle traffic and parking in and around Forest Park. There are meetings scheduled by the organizers for anyone who would like to learn more. Click on "Forest Park Neighbors" for more information about the meetings and the plan for the neighborhood.
As you know, Fair St Louis will be in Forest Park this 4th of July weekend, while the Arch grounds are under construction. I met last week with FSL organizers, the Parks Dept, Mayor’s office, and Police Dept to learn about their traffic and parking plans for July 3, 4 & 5.
- There will be no parking or ‘thru traffic’ on the streets in Forest Park
- There will be only 2 entrances/exits into FP for cars headed to/from one of the parking lots inside the Park. … Union on the north, and Hampton on the south.
- Parking inside the Park is $30 per car. The concerts and fireworks are free.
- Lower cost and some free parking will be available outside the Park at Washington Univ, Forest Park Comm College, Lots east of BJC, and near SLU
- Shuttles will run from a couple of spots on the edge of the Park to the FSL site on Art Hill. Details coming.
- Lindell will be closed from Kingshighway to Skinker. Only residents of Lindell, Westmoreland & Portland will be allowed on Lindell.
- Public residential streets south of Delmar along Skinker, DeBaliviere, Union, Kingshighway, and Oakland will be signed for ‘local traffic only’ to discourage Fair goers from parking in the neighborhoods.
- Chief Dotson is planning for all major intersections to be staffed by police officers during busy times.
All details are expected to be finalized in the next week or two. All of the major media outlets will be providing information… also check the Fair St Louis website for more details. http://www.fairsaintlouis.org
