It's been a long-standing tradition at the annual meeting of the Central West End Association to present awards for contributions to the betterment of the neighborhood. At the 58th annual event to be held next Monday, February 23, two outstanding individuals, 28th Ward Alderman Lyda Krewson and 17th Ward Alderman Joe Roddy, will be recognized with The Renaissance Award for their singular roles in guiding the evolution of the CWE.
Dr. Gloria Gordon, a retired psychologist, is to receive The Polk Award, which is presented to a resident who has consistently provided value-added contributions to the enhancement of the Central West End community. Gloria, a founder of STL Village, has a history of social activism with a focus on empowering people in the second half of life with options for healthy living, community participation and creativity.
