The CWE was well-represented at the Missouri Style Week events held August 28 & 29 at Westport Plaza. (On Wednesday, 8/27, Missouri Style Week travelled to Columbia, MO.) Cillah Hall, left, and Kristy Lee, second from left, are founders of Missouri Style Week. Hall is also the publisher of Gazelle STL and Gazelle West, bi-monthly publications with an office in the CWE. Lee is the fashion editor of the magazines.
Also shown in the photograph is Red Carpet Hostess Madi Federhofer, middle, MSW Associate Event Producer and Gazelle's Managing Editor Tameka Green, and far right, Gazelle STL's Style Writer and Online Content Manager, Eden Whitson.
Saturday night's event was divided into three sections. The first group to present were 5 emerging designers from the design programs at Lindenwood University, Missouri State University, and Stephens College.
CWEnder Kristen Kempton, below left, was among five established designers also exhibiting on the runway Saturday night. See her creations in video above.
Kempton, left, is photographed with model Zaria Mac, and Laura Gianini, right, a teacher in St. Charles who's wearing an iheartfink design (Kempton's label) she snapped up to add to her collection following the show.
The final event of Saturday's Missouri Style Week was an Architectural Design Challenge featuring designs based on an architectural landmark, whether local, national or international.
The 1st design in the photograph above is Dillan Watson's interpretation of Supertree Grove in Singapore. Tiffany Rae, one of the 5 established designers who exhibited her fashions earlier in the evening, interpreted the Eiffel Tower, left above.
Designer Morgan Mason's interpretation of Mano del Desierto in Chile (beige pant and top).
Unfortunately, my photograph of Ryan Moore's interpretation of the Berlin Wall doesn't show the handprinted jacket, which was stunning.
And finally, the winner of the design challenge, Lindenwood University Fashion Design student Richard Cotto's interpretation of the Sidney Opera House. Cotto won a $2,000 cash prize sponsored by Bates & Associates Architects, and a multi-page fashion spread and feature in Gazelle STL and Gazelle West to be photographed by David Kilper, estimated to be valued at $8,000.
The model wearing the winning creation is Galina Angheluta, above, whose daughter Beatrice was one of the face painters following the CWE 4th of July Children's Parade on Maryland Plaza. Such a small world!
