Though I hesitate to post these photos from the 4th of July celebration in Forest Park as it was so long ago, I don't think it's ever too late to say a big thank you to the Fair Saint Louis organization for its incredible gift. When an event such as this occurs year after year (since 1981), it's hard not to take it for granted. The Fair Saint Louis organization puts on the free birthday bash in partnership with the City of St. Louis.
The Fair kicked off with the 134th Veiled Prophet Parade in Downtown St. Louis on Saturday, July 2. The rest of the Fair occurred, for the second year in a row, in Forest Park.
The Grand Basin became a water-show venue.
The climbing wall attracted young teens.
And from my lawn chair I had a view of shoes people wore to deal with traversing Art Hill, which after days of rain had become a mud mountain.
George Clinton opened the evening's entertainment, above and below, on the 4th.
Flo Rida drew a large crowd of followers and brought the entertainment for 2016's Fair Saint Louis to a close.
A sampling of Flo Rida's performance above.
On the final night of the free birthday party, it was heartwarming to see such a diverse group of people, young and old, having such a wonderful time together. Thanks to Fair Saint Louis for giving us the opportunity.
