Fans of Gilmore Girls started lining up at 6:30 this morning in front of Coffee Cartel to celebrate the 16th birthday of the popular tv series. The 24-hour establishment, at the corner of Euclid and Maryland Avenues, had been transformed into one of 250 “Luke’s Diner” locations around the country.
Netflix, which is releasing all four 90-minute chapters of Gilmore Girls: A Day in the Life on November 25, is a partner in this celebration. By 9 a.m. Dennis Gorj, proprietor of Coffee Cartel, reported on Facebook that 500 fans had stopped by to claim a free cup of coffee.
SLU students start the day with a cup of Luke’s coffee.
The line for Luke’s Diner extended south on Euclid and west on Maryland Avenues.
High on my list of things to celebrate, while observing this clever marketing tool, was a crew from Fox 2 covering something positive in the neighborhood. Thanks to Dennis Gorj for making this happen.
