If you are interested in taking one of Bowood Farms’ craft classes, especially the hugely popular hand-lettering and chalkboard writing workshops, sign up as soon as you see the listing on the class schedule. They fill up fast. Bowood Farms’ events coordinator Elizabeth Barnes says she was caught off-guard by the fact that these are the types of classes people want, so more hand-lettering workshops are scheduled for after the New Year.
Rebecca Bodicky, above, led the watercolor holiday card-making class on Saturday, November 12. Bodicky’s main passion, Alice Blue Collective, is floral design, but she also loves working in watercolors and was eager to show the 15 students how to create our own simple cards.
The instructor used a micron pen to sketch out her drawings before applying watercolors.
You could have heard a pin drop during the two hour painting session. I don’t know if no one spoke because none of us seemed to know anyone else in the class, or that it was only a few days post election and we were all exhausted. Dabbling in paint was the perfect therapy.
Contact Rebecca through her website for information about her hand-painted cards, above.
There was a gallery opening last Friday evening at Houska Gallery (Charlie Houska pictured left) for CWE-based ceramicist Kate Walter, above right and below.
Some of you will remember another ceramicist with a similar style, Kate Dunn—it turns out that the 2 Kates are cousins and were in business together years ago.
Stop in to see the variety of beautiful hand-painted platters and bowls in Kate’s collection soon.
