There’s an exciting update on the local news front. The Griffin, a quarterly named after the historic Winged Griffin streetlamps in the CWE, will debut in March. The tabloid is a collaboration between the Central West End Association and Jeff Fister’s STL Programs which publishes other neighborhood newspapers and community directories in the St. Louis area. (Fister was a publisher of the West End Word, though not at the helm when the newspaper ceased publication due to the pandemic last year.)
Kate Walter, the president of The Central West End Association said of the partnership: “The organization is extremely grateful that Jeff brought the idea to the board. The Griffin speaks to our purpose of preserving and promoting the best attributes of our vibrant community, and expands our ability to inform those that live, work and visit the CWE.”
The tabloid will be filled with neighborhood and CWEA Association news, CWE history, and other interesting features, including a few words from yours truly. Plans are for publication of 7,000 copies, 5,000 of which will be mailed to neighborhood residents, and the remainder will be delivered to local businesses for distribution.
The Griffin is a timely and welcome addition to our Central West End neighborhood.
Great news!! I am thrilled to hear that Jeff Fister will be teaming up with Griffin and involved delivering news about the CWE.
