Saturday morning, 20 CWEnders and staff of the CWE North NSI (Neighborhood Security Initiative) answered the NSI’s call to help pick up trash on Delmar from Kingshighway to Taylor.
The volunteers met at the NSI office, 447 N. Euclid, and set out on a loop up Washington to Kingshighway, over to Delmar, east on Delmar to Taylor, and then west on Olive to Euclid, collecting 47 bags of trash along the way.
The group included NSI Executive Director Jim Whyte, staff members Madeline Oberman, Sarah Wickenhauser, Lyndon Cornell, and Philip Cornell. Thanks also to Antwoun Harlan of Prince Hall/Victoria 7 Lodge at 4525 Olive for joining in.
The 2 hours we spent together offered an opportunity to meet a couple of new neighbors and visit with some we hadn’t seen for a while. As we parted, we discussed the possibility of more cleanups in the near future. If that happens, I’ll let you know.
Thanks to the NSI office for organizing the event and to all those who participated for your help.
