Forty years ago, in 1981, I organized a group of neighboring families to put on a CWE 4th of July Parade. That first event was a success and a tradition was begun. Since then, the annual kids parade has occurred almost every July 4th, until last year when the pandemic was in full force and the 2020 event was cancelled. Sadly, yesterday marked the second year without a parade. To compensate, I thought a look through the archives might bring back some fond memories.

Photographed above are Central West End Association’s Executive Director Jess Campbell, left, and top, CWEA board members Kim & Bob Brown, President Kate Walter, and Greg Stoube. Kate Haher, Executive Director of the CWE North Community Improvement District is shown with her family, bottom right.
In recent years, the CWE North Community Improvement District has joined forces with the CWEA—along with many volunteers—to make those parades better than ever.
Kids Parade in 2022? Let’s hope so. Hope you had a Happy 4th.
I have photos from one of the Lenox Place Parades circa 2005 or so somewhere …. we just stumbled across the end to the delight of my then small children ….
Next year, 2022, for sure!
Love seeing these pictures-our children and grand children have such happy memories
of being in the parade-such a good idea you had -hope the tradition will continue-one of the many things that make the CWE a special place to live.
