There has been an abundance of behind-the-scenes activity as the neighborhood gears up to celebrate the 2023 Holiday Season. Lamp posts along Euclid have been wrapped with greens and topped with red bows, snowflake lights have been added to trees on prominent corners, and sidewalk planters are now brimming over with gorgeous holiday greens.
All of this is in preparation for this Saturday’s 14th Annual Window Walk and Holiday on the Plaza festivities. The Window Walk, a throw-back to the tradition of going downtown to see holiday windows, will feature shop and restaurant windows decorated by 16 St. Louis area designers. The event, which is sponsored by St. Louis Homes & Lifestyles, continues the following three Saturdays.
One of the favorite displays from 2022, an elaborate train set that was installed in what is now Twisted Ranch at Maryland and York, has been relocated to the CWE North Community Improvement District office, located just north of Pi and across the street from Up-Down.
There will be lots of free activities during the Window Walk, including ice carvings, carriage rides, carolers, live music, street performers, pictures with Santa, s’mores, kettle corn and lots more.
The 19th Annual Holiday on the Plaza returns to Maryland Plaza this Saturday as well:
Holiday on the Plaza will take place around the Maryland Plaza fountain from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Stop by for an afternoon of festive family entertainment, and the magical tree lighting ceremony which begins at 5:00 p.m.
This year’s Holiday on the Plaza includes a Christmas Market which will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. in the Fountain Room above Edera at 48 Maryland Plaza. There you’ll find vendors selling lots of gift items including jewelry, women’s apparel, children’s gifts, floral bouquets, and plants too.To get around this holiday season, the CWE North Community Improvement District and Euclid South Community Improvement District have teamed up to offer The Euclid Shuffle, two Labrynth-Mobility electric vehicles that offer free rides along the Euclid corridor from Washington Ave. to Forest Park Blvd. The hours of operation and phone number to call or text for a ride are listed on the flyer above.
Don’t miss Saturday’s events in the CWE. Remember that the Window Walk continues on Saturday afternoons until December 23. If you’re looking for gift ideas, be sure to support neighborhood businesses, and patronize local restaurants and cafes too.
