Last Saturday evening, a really wonderful event transformed Euclid Avenue between West Pine and Laclede into The Red Lantern City Night Market. It was the 4th year for the festival, the 2nd year it was located on Euclid near the Saigon Cafe, 10 N. Euclid, which was one of the organizers of the event. Among the other organizers were Taberu and the Japan America Society of St. Louis. Sponsors included Euclid South , Park Central Development, and the Very Asian Foundation.
The street was packed when the event started at 4:00 p.m. and, judging from social media posts, the crowds stayed steady until the 11 p.m. close. There were lines at food trucks and a large gathering around the stage, which was set up on Laclede, for the St. Louis Okinawa Eisa, a traditional drum group.

The St. Louis Okinawa Eisa, a traditional drum group, above. Thanks to everyone involved in the Red Lantern City Night Market. If you missed this year’s event, the organizers are already planning July 2025’s festival on south Euclid.
This was the first time I was aware of it and it was wonderful!! So pleased to have it in CWE.
