Stacked STL, a family-friendly burger bar located in Carondelet Park, is opening a second location in mid-May at the northeast corner of Euclid and McPherson, formerly Pi Pizzeria. When Matt and Laura Windish, and partner Sam Siebenman, were shown the space it was just what they were looking for in terms of square footage and it was also situated on a prominent CWE corner (if those walls could talk, “storied corner” might be a better descriptor).
The trio have been friends since high school. Matt and Sam were classmates at St. Mary’s and Laura graduated from Lindbergh High School. Matt and Laura later married and now have a 3 year old. When they were 22, as Matt said, “young and dumb,” they bought a bar they frequented at 7637 Ivory. That became Stacked STL, and 13 years later Matt and Sam are in the midst of renovating the CWE space, while Laura is now the manager of the seasonal Flock Food Truck Park and Bar in Alton, IL–and, according to Matt, created Stacked STL’s creative cocktail and mocktail menu.

The menu at Stacked STL includes a Build Your Own Burger option, a Burger of the Month (there have been approximately 100 creations so far), and Jr. Stackers. There are also veggie (black bean, and sweet potato and quinoa burgers), fish, brisket and grilled cheese options. Windish said they focus on maintaining mid-level pricing to respect customers’ budgets. Being family-friendly is a high priority too (high chairs and booster seats will be available), which should be a big draw in the neighborhood.
Windish described Stacked STL as a restaurant that happens to have a bar. 83% of their business is in food sales.”You won’t find buckets of beer at Stacked,” Windish added.
The plan is that Stacked STL in the CWE will be open 7 days a week starting at 11 a.m. For more information about Stacked STL including the menu, visit the website.
Updates on other businesses in the CWE to follow.
