On the longest—and also a very hot—day of the year, CWE Yoga celebrated the summer solstice with an event at the Maryland Plaza fountain. As the sun was setting, 25 yoga enthusiasts completed 108 sun salutations in an hour-long fundraiser for tornado relief.
CWE Yoga’s founder, Constance Lambdin, reported that the June 21 event raised $600, which was donated to the Urban League of St. Louis. More pop-up fundraisers for continued tornado relief are planned over the coming months. Follow CWE Yoga’s Instagram site for info.

This is view from across Maryland where the projectionist and those walking by could enjoy the film as well.Mark your calendars for Wednesday July 30 for Breakfast at Tiffany’s. The free event begins with a trivia contest and prizes at 7:30, followed by the movie at 8:30. Stay tuned for more info as rumor has it that there may be a prize for best Holly Golightly costume. There is popcorn too, but you might also decide to order a drink and take out from Edera Italian Eatery, which is under the red awning (barely visible right).

Craft Alliance, located at 5080 Delmar, planned a dedication of two Dietrich Klinge sculptures that had recently been installed by the Gateway Foundation for Friday evening at 5 p.m. on May 16. Mother Nature had different plans. Two hours earlier a tornado tore through the Delmar Maker District, and Craft Alliance’s administrative offices were severely damaged when a chimney fell through the roof. The dedication was rescheduled for Friday, June 20, after parts of the District had reopened, while other buildings remained covered in tarps.
Gateway Foundation’s Heather Sweeney, above, is photographed with Craft Alliance’s Executive Director Bryan Knicely. Sweeney’s remarks included the Foundation’s delight that the two sculptures have been reunited at last (read my original post here), and that they and the new landscaping were not damaged in the tornado,
though Knicely reported that a piece of slate was found covering GrosserPfuBrub, above, as a loincloth.
Polyante was moved to the Delmar Maker District from Craft Alliance’s previous location in the Delmar Loop.
The Gateway Foundation’s 2025 Gyo Obata Fellows strike a similar pose as GrosserPfuBrub. The Gyo Obata Fellowship strives to create opportunities in the fields of arts administration and management.
The installation at Craft Alliance is a perfect home for the Klinge sculptures. Thanks to Gateway Foundation for its continued work bringing art to the St. Louis region.
