The CWE’s 4th of July Parade has been marching along for 44 years now, and it never seems to grow old. The route has gotten longer since those early years, and the activities at parade’s end are much more elaborate, but no matter what year it is the 4th of July in the Central West End always seems like it’s the best one ever.
Thanks to the Central West End Association for hosting this year’s event, and especially board members Celeste and Bekka Vossmeyer for keeping us organized as we paraded from McPherson to the Maryland Plaza Fountain led by the hugely entertaining Black and Red Brass Band.
This year’s photos include some taken by Pass the Past Coffee’s Erica Tsimerman—an amazing photograher—who attended the parade for the first time. Thank you Erica!

Starting the parade were Central West End Association banner carriers Lindsay Stowe, John Thoben and their twin daughters. Lindsay is joining the CWEA board very soon. In the photograph far left is 9th Ward Alderman Michael Browning.

The Red & Black Band was a fabulous addition to this year’s line-up.

This is the first 4th of July for 7-month-old twins Mila and Grace Bastiaannet
