Today’s post is a follow-up on Rachel Burns and Corey Wilkinson’s Bold Spoon Creamery, which I featured 5 years ago when the entrepreneurs launched their small-batch ice cream business in the CWE.
The inspiration for the update was triggered by the fact that we discovered Bold Spoon ice cream was on the menu at The Muny’s concession stands this summer. Jim and I made the brand’s delicious Berry Brûlée flavor our intermission routine on those delightful summer nights.
The photo below shows Rachel scooping ice cream at The Muny’s 2025 Season Showcase, an event held a few weeks before the season begins.

Rachel, who grew up in the CWE, and Corey introduced their ice cream at a pop-up event at STL Foodworks, a culinary incubator located at 408 N. Sarah. The timing wasn’t ideal. By September 2020 we were in the throes of the pandemic, but the couple kept making small-batch ice cream and, five years later, Bold Spoon Creamery’s flavors are available at many local venues and grocery stores in the area. (Here is the original post.)

I reached out to Rachel via email to learn how the business has grown over the past 5 years.
When did you leave STL Foodworks in the CWE?
My husband Corey and I moved to our farm in Park Hills, Missouri (just south of St. Louis) in January, 2021. We transitioned manufacturing of our ice cream from STL Foodworks in the Central West End to a commercial kitchen on our farm, and began producing our ice cream here in May of 2021. This step really shaped Bold Spoon. Having space to grow your own ingredients and test flavors in a farm setting influences everything we do.
When did Bold Spoon Creamery arrive at The Muny and how did that come about?
The 2025 season was the first season that we partnered with The Muny. I have been a long-time fan and believed that this was the right time to pursue a partnership. A mutual friend helped me make some wonderful connections with the team, and through that networking the opportunity came together. Being part of such a St. Louis tradition has been an honor, and it’s been amazing to see people enjoy Bold Spoon while watching a show under the stars.
Are there other venues in St. Louis that sell your ice creams?
Yes, we have two Bold Spoon locations at City Soccer’s Energizer Park, one in Section 100, and the other in Section 211. In addition, we have Bold Spoon-branded stands at The Dome, Sections 124 and 136. Our ice cream is also available in Enterprise Center suites, and at Tower Grove Farmers Market. We love being part of places that bring people together.
Which retail stores carry Bold Spoon?
It’s available at all Straub’s and Schnucks’ locations, Smoke House Market, City Greens Market, and Fresh Thyme, to name a few. (For other locations, click here.)
Love learning their history,!! I’m a “regular” at City SC 🙂
