This is the final batch of CWE holiday gift suggestions for 2025. One of the rewarding experiences in putting this guide together is the opportunity to visit with the interesting proprietors and staff who are in the shops almost everyday. Part of what makes the CWE such a lively and fun place to be is the mix of residential and retail establishments, and we need each other to keep the energy alive. The neighborhood shops and restaurants depend on the support of you and your friends to thrive, so please shop local whenever you can.
And don’t forget to join in the fun at the last Window Walk of 2025. Many thanks to organizers, CWENorthCID’s Kate Haher and Nina Emerson, and Maryland Plaza’s Frances Thompson. Here is the schedule for Saturday’s event, which takes place from 1 to 5.

You’ll find a fabulous selection of jewelry at The Silver Lady located in the Royal Sonesta Chase Park Plaza Hotel. Proprietor Lori Shifter chose several items she knew you would love, including a Sterling silver leaf collar, $210, and matching earrings, $54.

A description of topaz accompanies a gorgeous topaz pendant, $548, and topaz ring, $189.

These two eye-catching rings are made with hardened car paint. Fordite, also known as Motor Agate, is the original layered car paint slag made when hand spray-painting cars. The conversation-piece ring on the left is $138, the one on the right is also adjustable, $212.
The Silver Lady, located between the Royal Sonesta Chase Park Plaza Gift Shop and the Tenderloin Room, 212 N. Kingshighway. The shop is open Tues.to Sat. 12 to 5, Sun. 12 to 3, Xmas Eve 11 to 3.
Chase Park Plaza Cinema:

The Chase Cinema’s Floor Managers Gerry Marian and Robert Hunt asked me to spread the word about the special holiday promotion offering discounted gift cards. For instance, purchase a gift card for $25 and get an extra $5, $50 earns an additional $10, and a $100 gift certificate earns $20 more.
Hunt said Hamnet and Nuremberg have been very popular and will be showing until Xmas, possibly beyond, and that Marty Supreme with Timothee Chalamet opens on Christmas Day. “As you know,” Hunt said, “movie theaters are struggling, so we appreciate it when the neighbors stop in for a show.” And we love the convenience of having a movie theater within walking distance. Let’s support it as often as possible.
