This year’s unusually early snows have been beautiful, but they sure put a damper on last weekend’s Small Business Saturday. Some hardy shoppers did get out despite the weather, but hopefully this Saturday’s Holiday on the Plaza and the first of 3 Window Walk events will offer more opportunities to support local businesses while enjoying all the festivities Maryland Plaza’s Frances Thompson and CWENCID’s Kate Haher and Nina Emerson have planned.
There is also some restaurant news and, at last, an opening date for The London Tea Room.

Early Saturday morning, the Christmas tree on Maryland Plaza (new this year) greeted families eager to enjoy the snow.
Bar Italia, 13 Maryland Plaza, debuted its first Brunch Pop-up hosted by Egg Midtown from 9 to 2 this past Saturday and Sunday. In a phone call today with Bar Italia’s proprietor Menghesha Johannes, he reminded me that the restaurant offered brunch at one time, and he decided to bring it back with a pop-up featuring Egg’s proprietor Lassaad Jeliti’s diverse menu of Tunisian and Mexican-type fare. The pop-up will be offered on a experimental basis for several weekends, and will be continued if it catches on.

Brunch Pop-up by Egg at Bar Italia, 13 Maryland Plaza, Saturday & Sundays from 9 to 2.

To the excitement of many longtime fans, reservations opened recently for tea service at The London Tea Room, 255 North Union. Opening Day is Saturday, December 6.
When I checked reservations, it seems there are a few spots left on Sunday afternoon, but if you want to stop in this weekend without a reservation, vendors will offer a “quick” tea and scone bar, so at least you can enjoy a bit of what is offered, and take a peek at the beautiful renovation.
The London Tea Room is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10 to 5.

Bundle up, and get out and enjoy all the neighborhood has to offer this holiday season.
Thanks Nicki for always keeping us in the know.
