Several business owners located at Euclid and McPherson have been working for months to bring “Market on McPherson,” a boutique farmers’ market, to the CWE. The effort has become a reality. The first Market will take place on Sunday, March 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and continue on the last Sunday of each month through November. Market on McPherson will also pop-up twice during the holiday season to coincide with the annual CWE Window Walk.
On Market Sundays, McPherson Avenue will be closed from Euclid east to Walton from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., so vendors have plenty of time to get their tents and wares set up before the 10 a.m. start.
Organizers include Erica and Eugene Tsimerman of Pass the Past Coffee & Vintage, Sidney Rushing of Rushmore Boutique, and CWE Yoga’s founder Constance Lamdin. Market on McPherson’s website and logo, above, were designed by CWEnder Aaron Speropoulos of Studio Poulos.
The founding partners are focused on “reactivating an historic block and breathe fresh life back into a tried & true corner of the CWE– once a home to so many neighborhood staples from years gone by. Now, help build new ones and reinvigorate the intersection of Euclid & McPherson.” The Market is described as “not just a place to find fresh produce (which will be added as Spring springs) and baked goods on Sundays, it is also meant to be a gathering space for neighbors and visitors to meet. ”
Sydnie Rushing of Rushmore Boutique, 4742 McPherson, added: “I’m excited to bring the in-person experience I have at Rushmore Boutique to the community at large. In a neighborhood as grassroots as the CWE, we needed a farmers market! Farmers Markets are a beautiful opportunity to connect the community with the people who are passionate about their craft. It reintroduces the humanity that we’ve lost over the years to screens.”
CWE Yoga’s Constance Lambdin, 393 N. Euclid, said: “So much of life happens behind screens, which is why creating real, in-person experiences feels so powerful right now. Just like Central West End Yoga is more than a place to move & breathe, Market on McPherson is more than a place to shop. It is an opportunity to gather with neighbors, share space, spark unexpected conversations, and feel part of something truly meaningful and connected.”
And Erica and Eugene Tsimerman of Past the Past Coffee & Vintage, 4740 McPherson, noticed that “Upon Pass the Past Coffee & Vintage’s return to the CWE, we’ve been able to connect with our neighbors in a different way. We began to notice their desire for connection and for more experiences that emphasize the walkability of their neighborhood. And the idea to invent Market on McPherson was born. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been working on, and we’re hopeful that Market on McPherson will bring an element of community and connection for years to come.”
Vendors who will be participating in the March 29 Market include:
Skin & Wicks — a mother & daughter duo who make soaps, lotions, and candles. They also participated in the first iteration of Market on McPherson back in the winter of 2021.
Lane Vintage — Ally Wepler’s vintage clothing, accessory, and housewares business.
Chouteau Candle — CWEnder Audrey Schwade’s small batch soy candle company.
Praiatea — Maria Arango’s artisan hand-printed fabric business.
Saint Rita Parlor — Neil Bardon’s boutique fragrance and candle company.
Skald Bakery– Bread & pastries made with 100% milled & organic flour from Il.-based Janie’s Mill.
Hawthorne Honey – Scott Holifield’s small-batch, terroir-driven, honey and beeswax goods.
Left Bank Books is also hosting a Sidewalk Storytime from 11:30 until Noon.
Market on McPherson is always looking for more “Growers, Makers, Artists, Bakers, and everything in between. And volunteers are needed for a few hours to help make this whole thing work, as this project is designed to be a community effort. Plus you get a free t-shirt!” If you’d like to become involved as a vendor or volunteer, email: info@marketonmcpherson.com.
