Wigmaker, makeup artist, and instructor Kelley Jordan, above, was featured in an excellent article by reporter Pat Eby in Sunday, March 29th’s St. Louis Post-Dispatch Lifestyle Section. If you’re a subscriber to STL Today, here is a link. Otherwise, since you won’t be able to access it without a subscription, here is a link to an article about Kelley in the November 2024 CWEA Griffin which, while not current, will give you an idea of Kelley’s talent, experience, and also describes her mission to share her skills with others.
Reporter Pat Eby describes Jordan’s “magical work of wigmaker, hair stylist and makeup artist as brightening national and international stages for the past 35 years…She’s sharing her knowledge and love for live theater through classes and workshops at her new studio in the Central West End.”
Classes include “Theatrical Hair & Makeup 101” for anyone interested in how theatrical hair & makeup production works, a “Parent Prep Workshop” for all theater and dance parents to learn how to apply wigs and makeup, which will be held on April 11 and again on May 2. There are “Wigs & Wine Workshops” to learn how to style, care, and maintain your own wig, all while enjoying a glass of wine, and coming soon, a “Drag Wig,” “Barbers in Theater,” and “Wig Making” Classes.
Photographed above with Kelley Jordan is Scenic Painter Andy Cross creating a sign for this Monday, April 6th’s “Meet & Greet with Broadway Wig Supervisor Jennifer Ivey.” Ivy is in town for The Fox Theater’s production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
As described on the website, the evening invites you to: “Step behind-the-scenes and experience the artistry of theatrical hair, wigs, and makeup up close. This is a rare opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired by an industry professional.”
