After months of renovation, the World Chess Hall of Fame is set to open with a private party on September 8. Claire Grothe, Program Coordinator of the WCHOF at 4652 Maryland (across the street from the Chess Club and Scholastic Center) is seeking docents to give group tours and help with public/educational programs.
The World Chess Hall of Fame will open to the public on September 9 with two exhibitions: "Chess Masterpieces: Highlights from the George and Vivian Dean Collection," which traces the development of chess through the couple's collection of chess sets from around the world; and "Out of the Box: Artists Play Chess," a modern art exhibition.
If you are interested in volunteering, contact Claire at [email protected] for an application. You can sign up for the Chess Club's e-newsletter on the website too.
