After all the posts I've written over the past couple of months about the OPUS Project proposed for Lindell & Euclid, I wanted to introduce you to another project that, because it was a renovation of an existing grand structure, had great bones to start with. It's the Residences at Forest Park Hotel located at 4910 West Pine (cater-corner from the site of Whole Foods, now under construction).
I visited the Residences during an open house last fall and was knocked-out by how beautifully the former seven-story hotel had been restored and updated. Fairway Management, based in Columbia, MO, owns the property and had spent the previous year renovating the rooms creating a total of 115 apartments (5 studios, 86 one bedroom-one bath and 24 two bedroom-two bath apartments). They lease from $1,335 to $2610 per month. Only 3 one-bedroom apartments are still available as of this posting.

Marketing Specialist Malena Plu, left, moved to St. Louis from Atlanta last summer, and said she has absolutely fallen in love with the Central West End. Shown with Malena are Bob Ring and Jen Schurmann of Fairway Management. Bob mentioned that he wanted The Residences to heighten its exposure and involvement in the CWE lifestyle, "as we believe we have a diamond in the rough that has for too long been under everyone's radar."

The Forest Park Hotel, constructed in 1923, was designed by architect Preston J. Bradshaw, who was also the architect for the Chase-Park Plaza. Though the Forest Park's lobby is smaller, there are definite similarities between the two buildings' gorgeous entries. Many celebrities who performed at the Chase stayed at the Forest Park Hotel so they could remain a bit incognito and get away from the hoopla associated with the larger hotel. The Forest Park Hotel was known for a nightclub called the Circus Snack Bar where both Louis Armstrong and Liberace performed.

The "club room" kitchen, above, and a billiard's room are available to residents, as well as a 24-hour fitness facility, and patios for entertaining, below. Gated parking is on the north side of West Pine.
Each apartment includes great new kitchens and washer/dryers units.
What is the most unusual (and appealing) living situation to me are several apartment homes at the Residences with private entries at street level.
Congratulations to the Fairway Management for a job very well done.

Beautiful! I’ve walked past it so many times without paying attention. Thanks for illuminating another gem in the CWE.
