Many churches, organizations and food pantries are trying to help those in need following the loss of SNAP benefits and those still dealing with the aftermath of the May 16 tornado.
Catholic Charities is one of the organizations that has been collecting non-perishable food, toiletries and cleaning products at 4445 Lindell, (the round building just west of the Cathedral Basilica) for those in need following the tornado and loss of SNAP benefits. Catholic Charities’ Father Dan Thiess is asking for turkeys and “sides” for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for those in need.
Besides turkeys, they would love to have stuffing mix, instant potatoes, canned vegetables, whatever other non-perishable item would make the meal memorable.
Drop off at Catholic Charities, 4445 Lindell between 8:30 and 4:30 Monday through Friday. I’ve found it’s almost easier to park on Lindell and walk to the front door, though there is parking in the circle driveway (the main entry faces Lindell).
